2019 Senior Playing List

Daniel “Smiley” Butera… has a burning desire for Premiership glory.
Cementing himself a key back position over the past two years, Smiley’s high marking skills, decision making and courageous attack on the football has been a delight to watch. A real “True Roo”, Smiley started at East Ringwood Football Club aged eight, and progressed through a very well run Junior Football Program winning three Premierships along the way. Smiley believes the “Mighty Roos” strategy to rebuild a strong U19 team will provide the Senior team with a huge amount of “passion and drive”. “I’m hoping I can help steer the ship and make the transition a real positive experience for all players”. We really hope Smiley can achieve success and are very pleased to announce his signing for 2019.

Roo “Big Man” keen for success
Since joining the East Ringwood Football Club from Box Hill, Andrew Renton has dominated the centre square to become one of the league’s best Ruckman. He is a “huge” man and is admired for his on/off-field leadership and commitment to the Roo’s. In a time when player movements are frequent, Rents has stuck by the club during a very tough period, and now is the time for success.
We are very pleased to announce Rents signing for 2019… Fighting fit and injury free this is one player who could tear the competition apart next year

Darcy Hubbard looks to carve his own success with the Mighty Roos

Son of East Ringwood Football Club legend Rob Hubbard, Darcy is another highly talented player who has come through our Junior ranks. Injury has restricted him to gaining full fitness over the past few years, however Darcy is already working on completing a solid pre season and we are really excited about what his best can bring to the table. A tackling machine Darcy’s brand of footy is tough, competitive and with a lethal left foot he plays vital role in teams success in 2019

Ozzie sets bar high!
A player who demands 100% commitment from his teammates, Leigh Osborne played in our victorious ERFC U18 Premiership team in 2007, played Seniors and then left chasing a dream but never lost touch with the Roo’s. Ozzie’s journey has seen him play at VFL clubs Port Melbourne/Box Hill, AFL club Gold Coast and even pulled on the VIC jumper. With a booming left foot and dashing ability to cut his way through traffic off half-back, Ozzie will be another talented Roo to watch next year. His “hard lined” approach to training and passion for football has seen him reach amazing highs and the ERFC are thrilled to have Ozzie onboard for 2019 to help guide the next generation of talent.

Kinsella vows to set the bar high in season 2019!
Having joined the “Mighty Roos” in 2017, Liam Kinsella has quickly established himself as a quality midfield player and club leader. Before joining us, Liam won a couple of Premierships with Kew and also won a competition best and fairest with his distinction “in your face” style of highly competitive football. Liam’s work ethic is first class, setting a wonderful example for others to follow… with some quality “bigger bodies” around him next year, this is definitely a player to watch.

“A tireless worker with unfinished business”
The importance of strong, tall, versatile big men is a major weapon for any coach and strength of all great teams. We are pleased announce that Dean Cleven will again play a major role in the development and success of the “Mighty Roos” in 2019. A genuine hard-working competitor who relishes a challenge, Clevo’s presence is always felt on game day. His high marking and general “grunt” to win the contested ball makes him a much-loved player by all. Keen to push himself even harder in 2019 we know Clevo will continue to lead the way.

Genuine “Pocket Rocket”… we may see the best of Marty in 2019

A highly talented ERFC Junior who played a major role in helping the team win both U16 & U18 Premierships, Marty Ekers plan for Senior glory unfortunately has been very tough with injury taking its toll. However, Marty has worked extremely hard to get is body right and we may see him return to the mid-field or light up the forward line with is “bullet” like attack at the contest.

“There seems to be a real strong feeling amongst the group regarding the 2019 season… the committee has become much stronger by adding an expanded football department headed by Simon Moore, our U19s teams back and our band of “True Roo” supporters are getting behind us”.
Great to have you onboard Marty.
